COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited (CSPX) has announced the acquisition <\/p>\n

of majority stakes in Xiamen Haicang Free Trade Port Zone Investment and <\/p>\n

Construction Management Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal Co., <\/p>\n

Ltd.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This move is in line with the company\u2019s strategy to expand its terminal <\/p>\n

business and build an integrated ports and logistics service platform to provide <\/p>\n

one-stop logistics services to customers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The acquisition of 56 per cent equity interest in Xiamen Haicang Free Trade <\/p>\n

Port Zone Investment and Construction Management Co., Ltd. was completed on 30 <\/p>\n

December 2022, making it a subsidiary company of COSCO SHIPPING Ports and its <\/p>\n

first supply chain platform.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The company owns warehouses, yards, factories, and other logistical assets <\/p>\n

in the Xiamen Haicang Port Comprehensive Bonded Area, with a total land area of <\/p>\n

around 530,000 square metres.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Its subsidiary and non-subsidiary companies are primarily involved in port <\/p>\n

logistics, cold chain logistics, container yards, and China-Europe train <\/p>\n

services.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The acquisition of 30 per cent equity interest in Xiamen Ocean Gate <\/p>\n

Container Terminal Co., Ltd. was completed on 28 February 2023, making it a <\/p>\n

fully-owned subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Ports.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The terminal is primarily engaged in container terminal businesses in <\/p>\n

Haicang Port Area of Xiamen and is the main deepwater port in China\u2019s south <\/p>\n

eastern coastal area. It is also one the first 5G smart ports in the <\/p>\n

country.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

COSCO said it plans to leverage its domestic and international terminals <\/p>\n

and back-end resources on land to integrate both subsidiaries into its global <\/p>\n

business network, develop extended port logistics businesses, and build a <\/p>\n

leading domestic and international supply chain headquarters based in <\/p>\n

Xiamen.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

By implementing a \u201cports + supply chain\u201d model, the company aims to provide <\/p>\n

highly efficient, safe, and convenient supply chain services for customers both <\/p>\n

domestically and internationally.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Just last month, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings agreed to pay 5.5 billion yuan <\/p>\n

($814 million) to buy a 5.8 per cent stake in logistics company COFCO <\/p>\n
