APM Terminals Callao, operator of the largest multipurpose terminal <\/p>\n

in Peru, has been given a further boost with a new electric Panamax <\/p>\n

ship-to-shore crane and two Electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes <\/p>\n

(ERTGs).<\/strong><\/p>\n

This $25 million investment is expected to accelerate and enhance container <\/p>\n

operations at the terminal.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The terminal now operates five Super Post Panamax cranes, two Panamax <\/p>\n

cranes and 15 ERTGs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

APM Terminals Callao also has plans to add two free-flow grain loaders and <\/p>\n

build a grain handling system with 12 silos and a capacity of 60,000 tonnes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There are plans to acquire three additional ship-to-shore cranes, nine <\/p>\n

ERTGs and 24 additional terminal tractors, as well as general cargo <\/p>\n

equipment.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the final stage of the expansion, the terminal will incorporate an <\/p>\n

additional four ship-to-shore cranes, 12 ERTGs and 24 terminal tractors.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In May 2011, APM Terminals Callao signed a 30-year concession contract with <\/p>\n

the Peruvian State to be the operator of the Multipurpose North Terminal of the <\/p>\n

Port of Callao.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This was followed in November 2022, by an addendum to the concession <\/p>\n

contract, committing to an investment of more than $1.2 billion. To date, more <\/p>\n

than $500 million has already been invested, according to APM Terminals.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With container volumes continuing to increase, Javier Vidal, Head of <\/p>\n

Operations at APM Terminals Callao, said that the new equipment is prospected to <\/p>\n

further enhance the terminal\u2019s handling operations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIn future stages of our concession master plan we have planned an increase <\/p>\n

in our fleet of terminal equipment and infrastructure to adequately meet the <\/p>\n

future demand of Peruvian foreign trade,\u201d Vidal said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This investment comes more than two months after APM Terminals and the <\/p>\n

Municipality of Itaja\u00ed, Brazil, signed a Transitory Lease Agreement for the Port <\/p>\n
