{"id":1026,"date":"2023-02-08T10:27:04","date_gmt":"2023-02-08T02:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/hpc-initiates-concept-study-for-hydrogen-bunker-station-in-helgoland\/"},"modified":"2023-02-08T10:27:04","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T02:27:04","slug":"hpc-initiates-concept-study-for-hydrogen-bunker-station-in-helgoland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/hpc-initiates-concept-study-for-hydrogen-bunker-station-in-helgoland\/","title":{"rendered":"HPC initiates concept study for hydrogen bunker station in Helgoland"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px; line-height:25px; text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong>The municipality of Helgoland has commissioned Hamburg Port <\/p>\n<p>Consulting (HPC) to carry out a concept study for the construction of a hydrogen <\/p>\n<p>bunker station on Helgoland. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1675822912765866-1.jpg\" alt=\"HPC initiates concept study for hydrogen bunker station in Helgoland.jpg\" title=\"HPC initiates concept study for hydrogen bunker station in Helgoland\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:15px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The concept study will require HPC to investigate the commercial and <\/p>\n<p>infrastructural suitability of the island as a potential location for H2 fuel <\/p>\n<p>supply for shipping traffic on the North Sea.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The study includes evaluating the market potential of alternative fuels for <\/p>\n<p>island shipping with the aim of estimating the potential demand.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The study will then examine the various refuelling logistics for hydrogen, <\/p>\n<p>taking the local infrastructural framework and conditions into <\/p>\n<p>consideration.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The study will lastly include initial estimates of the necessary <\/p>\n<p>investments in addition to evaluating and recommending such plans.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results of the study will better enable the municipality of Helgoland <\/p>\n<p>and its partners to make an investment decision based on realistic costs,\u201d said <\/p>\n<p>Patrick Specht, Head of Sustainability at HPC.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Green hydrogen from the AquaPrimus project will also be available on <\/p>\n<p>Helgoland in the future.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The AquaPrimus Project was set up to help achieve the primary goal of the <\/p>\n<p>EU hydrogen strategy which was to promote the production of green hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking into account the good availability of green hydrogen in the area of <\/p>\n<p>the island, we would like to examine the extent to which Helgoland can also <\/p>\n<p>reliably provide a supply for ships calling there in the future,\u201d said Christoph <\/p>\n<p>Tewis, Project Manager for AquaCore and the TransHyDE project, Helgoland.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The concept study for a hydrogen bunker station on Helgoland is funded by <\/p>\n<p>the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the hydrogen <\/p>\n<p>lead project, TransHyDe.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The TransHyDE, one of three hydrogen lead projects of the Ministry, <\/p>\n<p>supports the goals of the National Hydrogen Strategy in Germany, which was <\/p>\n<p>adopted by the Federal Government in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The hydrogen lead projects involve the research and development of new <\/p>\n<p>technologies and application solutions for the production, storage and transport <\/p>\n<p>of green hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The commissioning of this concept study comes less than a month after HPC <\/p>\n<p>concluded a profitability analysis contract for a North German terminal.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The municipality of Helgoland has commissioned Hamburg Port Consulting (HPC) to carry out a concept study for the construction of a hydrogen bunker station on Helgoland.
