Three Port of Gothenburg projects for a green transformation of <\/p>\n

shipping will constitute Sweden\u2019s contribution to the international initiative <\/p>\n

Green Shipping Challenge (GSC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"PORT<\/strong><\/p>\n

The initiative is led by the US and Norway and was launched earlier this <\/p>\n

month at the COP27 climate summit in Sharm-el-Sheikh.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All three of Sweden\u2019s commitments to the challenge involve the Port of <\/p>\n

Gothenburg.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The first concerns the development of a green corridor between Sweden and <\/p>\n

Belgium.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The second is an industry-wide collaboration that will make Gothenburg\u2019s <\/p>\n

port Europe\u2019s first hub for green electrofuel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The third commitment concerns the cooperation on a green corridor between <\/p>\n

the Port of Gothenburg and the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to be able to contribute to Sweden\u2019s commitments at COP27 <\/p>\n

with concrete projects that lead to actual emission reduction, and which can <\/p>\n

also show the way for other ports,\u201d said Edvard Molitor, Head of International <\/p>\n

Public Affairs and Sustainability at the Gothenburg Port Authority.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

After COP26 in Glasgow, the US launched the initiative for the Green <\/p>\n

Shipping Challenge (GSC) encouraging concrete commitments across the <\/p>\n

international shipping sector to reach the 1.5 degree target.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Port of Gothenburg has been conducting a very ambitious climate work <\/p>\n

for many years, and it is gratifying that we can now put even more of this into <\/p>\n

practice by creating new green corridors based on alternative fuels for shipping <\/p>\n

that significantly reduce emissions,\u201d added Edvard Molitor.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Port of Gothenburg just welcomed a new Liquefied Natural Gas <\/p>\n

(LNG)\/battery hybrid ship which meets the IMO\u2019s 2030 target for shipping\u2019s <\/p>\n
