Gothenburg Port Authority is collaborating with Stena Line, DFDS, <\/p>\n

\u00d8rsted and Liquid Wind to establish Europe\u2019s first electromethanol (e-fuels) <\/p>\n

hub.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The parties are engaging to set up an eMethanol value chain with the <\/p>\n

determination to have significant volumes of eMethanol accessible at the Port of <\/p>\n

Gothenburg.<\/p>\n

The hub intends to launch in 2025.<\/p>\n

the shipping industry lining up their green agendas towards a common goal that <\/p>\n

is working in the favour of all involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

commitment and collaborate to decarbonise our industry. With eMethanol from this <\/p>\n

partnership, DFDS is adding a new e-fuel possibility to deliver on our promise <\/p>\n

to operate a green vessel by 2025,\u201d said Torben Carlsen, CEO of DFDS.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Liquid Wind and \u00d8rsteds eMethanol production facility FlagshipONE is in <\/p>\n

late-stage development and approaching a final investment decision. It will be <\/p>\n

the largest e-fuels facility in the world, producing 50,000 tonnes of eMethanol <\/p>\n

annually.<\/p>\n

In April earlier this year, the Gothenburg Port Authority published general <\/p>\n

methanol operating regulations for ship-to-ship bunkering.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Setting up an eMethanol value chain is a logical progression according to <\/p>\n

Christoffer Lillhage, Senior Business Development Manager Energy at the <\/p>\n

Gothenburg Port Authority: \u201dTogether with these brave first movers we are now <\/p>\n

well on the way to establishing the Port of Gothenburg as the primary bunkering <\/p>\n

hub for future marine fuels in northern Europe, and we are convinced that more <\/p>\n

ship owners and fuel producers will join us in this journey of <\/p>\n

decarbonisation.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Port of Gothenburg has handled 430,000 TEU in January to June in 2022 \u2013 <\/p>\n

a 5 per cent increase on last year\u2019s levels.<\/p>\n
