Hutchison Ports and Terminal Investment Limited S\u00e0rl (TiL), the <\/p>\n

terminal investment company of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), will build <\/p>\n

a new container terminal at the Port of Rotterdam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Hutchison<\/strong><\/p>\n

The box terminal will be developed in the Europahaven, where the north side <\/p>\n

of the Hutchison Ports ECT Delta terminal and Hutchison Ports Delta II (the <\/p>\n

former APMT-R site) are located.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Both locations on the Delta peninsula are part of the new container <\/p>\n

terminal and will facilitate MSC\u2019s ambitions for further growth.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Port of Rotterdam Authority will redevelop the quay walls for this <\/p>\n

project.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The entire terminal will be developed and launched in phases and is <\/p>\n

expected to start the first phase of operation in 2027.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the plan, the new terminal will consist of five deep-sea berths with a <\/p>\n

total length of 2.6 kilometres.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

After the redevelopment, the terminal\u2019s expected capacity will be 6 to 7 <\/p>\n

million TEU.<\/p>\n

Leo Ruijs, CEO of Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam and Hutchison Ports Delta <\/p>\n

Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority added: \u201cWe are <\/p>\n

delighted that world class player MSC is committed to this renewal and <\/p>\n

significant expansion of the container handling in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a substantial strengthening of our leading position as Europe\u2019s <\/p>\n

largest container port and contributes to further improving the competitive <\/p>\n

position of both our customers and the port.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ammar Kanaan, CEO of TiL said: \u201cWe are committed to the development of this <\/p>\n

new state of the art mega terminal in Rotterdam.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kanaan added that shore power will be considered and further explored for <\/p>\n

users at the port.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Earlier this year TiL announced a \u20ac700 million investment <\/p>\n

drive into the TPO\/TNMSC container terminals at Le Havre.<\/p>\n

In August Hutchison Ports inked two concession agreements worth $700 <\/p>\n

million with the Egyptian Government to operate the container terminals in Ain <\/p>\n

Sokhna Port and El Dekheila Port.<\/p>\n
