Moller \u2013 Maersk (Maersk) has named Berlin Maersk, the first in a new <\/p>\n<p>series of 17,480 TEU dual-fuel methanol container vessels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1750737412575670-1.jpg\" alt=\"Maersk names 14th dual-fuel methanol container vessel\" title=\"Maersk names 14th dual-fuel methanol container vessel\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The vessel is the 14th dual-fuel newbuild to enter the Maersk fleet and <\/p>\n<p>features a wider beam than the earlier Ane Maersk class, allowing for greater <\/p>\n<p>container capacity. It is now reportedly the largest dual-fuel vessel operated <\/p>\n<p>by the company.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The naming ceremony took place on 18 June at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) <\/p>\n<p>in Ulsan, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Berlin Maersk is set to begin service on 7 July, calling first at <\/p>\n<p>Shanghai on Maersk\u2019s AE3 route linking East Asia with Northern Europe.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Five additional ships in the class will follow, all built by HHI and <\/p>\n<p>scheduled for delivery by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Anda Cristescu, Head of Chartering &amp; Newbuilding at Maersk, said: \u201cWith <\/p>\n<p>the launch of the Berlin Maersk class, we continue to build an ocean toolkit <\/p>\n<p>adaptable to multiple fuel pathways. Fleet renewal is essential for maintaining <\/p>\n<p>our competitive edge and is central to our decarbonisation strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Ole Graa Jakobsen, Head of Fleet Technology at Maersk, added: \u201cOur new <\/p>\n<p>Berlin Maersk class builds on the foundation laid by Laura M\u00e6rsk and the Ane <\/p>\n<p>M\u00e6rsk class, setting a new industry benchmark in efficiency and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Last month, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd launched a new Transpacific service, <\/p>\n<p>TP9, under the Gemini Cooperation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.P.
