{"id":337,"date":"2025-05-27T09:50:54","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T01:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/emsa-to-support-eu-maritime-decarbonisation-efforts\/"},"modified":"2025-05-27T09:50:54","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T01:50:54","slug":"emsa-to-support-eu-maritime-decarbonisation-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/emsa-to-support-eu-maritime-decarbonisation-efforts\/","title":{"rendered":"EMSA to support EU maritime decarbonisation efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p>The Council and European Parliament have reached a provisional political <\/p>\n<p>agreement to sharpen and expand the mandate of the European Maritime Safety <\/p>\n<p>Agency (EMSA), strengthening its role in ensuring maritime safety and <\/p>\n<p>sustainability.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1748308315363367-1.jpg\" alt=\"EMSA to support EU maritime decarbonisation efforts\" title=\"EMSA to support EU maritime decarbonisation efforts\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The agreement allows EMSA\u2019s responsibilities to evolve in response to <\/p>\n<p>future challenges, including cybersecurity and hybrid threats.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The updated regulation will provide a stronger legal foundation for EMSA\u2019s <\/p>\n<p>work in maritime safety, pollution control, surveillance, and maritime <\/p>\n<p>awareness.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>EMSA will also offer technical, operational, and scientific support to both <\/p>\n<p>Member States and the European Commission.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The regulation enables EMSA to take on new responsibilities, upon request, <\/p>\n<p>to adapt to emerging challenges in the maritime sector, enhancing the Agency\u2019s <\/p>\n<p>long-term relevance.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the revision ensures EMSA is equipped with the necessary staff and <\/p>\n<p>funding to carry out its expanded role effectively.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The provisional agreement now awaits approval from Member State <\/p>\n<p>representatives in the Council (Coreper) and the European Parliament.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>After a legal and linguistic review, both institutions will formally adopt <\/p>\n<p>it.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Dariusz Klimczak, Polish Minister of Infrastructure, said: \u201cFor over 23 <\/p>\n<p>years now, EMSA has proven to be an essential support to member states in <\/p>\n<p>ensuring safety on European waters.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRevising the agency\u2019s mandate will better reflect EMSA\u2019s current and <\/p>\n<p>future role and make the agency future-proof.
