(CMI) has received DNV Approval in Principle (AiP) for its <\/p>\n<p>methanol-ready QSK60 IMO II and IMO III engines, with outputs ranging from 2000 <\/p>\n<p>\u2013 2700 hp (1491 \u2013 2013 kW).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1741834010521368-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cummins gains DNV approval for methanol-ready marine engine\" title=\"Cummins gains DNV approval for methanol-ready marine engine\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Following extensive field testing, Cummins plans to launch the retrofit <\/p>\n<p>kits post-2028 to align with market demand and infrastructure readiness.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>These kits will be especially useful for diesel-electric systems that may <\/p>\n<p>be linked to a battery, increasing efficiency and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Cummins reported in November 2023 that this program, which focused on <\/p>\n<p>converting existing engine installations, will ensure a smooth transition from <\/p>\n<p>present to future ship building using cleaner technology.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Dawn Wehr, Cummins Executive Director \u2013 Strategy, Product Planning &amp; <\/p>\n<p>Digital, added: \u201cUsing a retrofittable solution dismisses the need for a major <\/p>\n<p>vessel overhaul and creates an immediate positive impact on carbon-emissions <\/p>\n<p>reduction.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our continual work on developing solutions for other alcohol fuels, <\/p>\n<p>including ethanol, we are committed to providing solutions that work for <\/p>\n<p>different operations and fuel infrastructure availabilities to ensure ease of <\/p>\n<p>adoption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In November 2024, DNV expanded emissions regulations to reduce emissions <\/p>\n<p>from oceangoing vessels while in Californian ports.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cummins Inc.
