DP World has marked the operational launch of the world\u2019s first <\/p>\n

all-electric berth at London Gateway with the arrival of the MSC <\/p>\n

Sena.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ship was serviced by an all-electric fleet, including four of Europe\u2019s <\/p>\n

largest quay cranes, straddle carriers, and automated stacking cranes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The new 430-metre berth aims to set a global standard in low-carbon <\/p>\n

shipping infrastructure, enhancing capacity at the port by over a third and <\/p>\n

boosting supply chain efficiency through improved connectivity and faster <\/p>\n

turnaround times.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

DP World\u2019s aim is to make London Gateway the UK\u2019s largest container port by <\/p>\n

trading volume within five years.<\/p>\n

World in the UK, stated, \u201cThe arrival of the first ship at our new all-electric <\/p>\n

fourth berth is a huge landmark for DP World\u2019s ambitions in the UK.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have already invested more than \u00a32 billion ($2.57 billion) in the <\/p>\n

building of our modern and efficient facility at London Gateway in the last <\/p>\n

decade, connecting the UK with global supply chains and export markets.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new berth, alongside our \u00a31 billion ($1.28 billion) investment in the <\/p>\n

fifth and sixth berths, will further enable us to service the largest vessels in <\/p>\n

operation worldwide today, and the larger, future megaships currently under <\/p>\n

construction, while also advancing our goal to be net-zero by 2050.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The new berth complements the London Gateway Logistics Park, a 9.25 million <\/p>\n

square foot facility with multimodal connections across domestic and <\/p>\n

international transport networks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Already half developed, this logistics park provides extensive warehousing <\/p>\n

and enhances DP World\u2019s integrated UK offering, which spans ports in Southampton <\/p>\n

and London Gateway and logistics, forwarding, and European transport <\/p>\n

capabilities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Last month, DP World acquired 47,000 TEUs to enhance its cargo capacity and <\/p>\n
