At Repsol, we provide shipping <\/p>\n<p>companies with a reliable supply chain and a multi-energy strategy that combines <\/p>\n<p>different renewable fuels to support the sector in a safe, competitive, and <\/p>\n<p>sustainable transition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The bunkering took place under fully commercial conditions, delivered by <\/p>\n<p>Bah\u00eda Candela, Repsol\u2019s newest bunker vessel, operated by Mureloil and designed <\/p>\n<p>to handle both conventional and next-generation marine fuels. The vessel <\/p>\n<p>completed the transfer using its battery system, resulting in zero local <\/p>\n<p>emissions during the operation.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The operation follows earlier ethanol trials by Maersk on Laura Maersk, the <\/p>\n<p>1,800 TEU feeder vessel that became the world\u2019s first dual-fuel container vessel <\/p>\n<p>able to run on methanol in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As of 15 July, Maersk operates 23 dual-fuel methanol-enabled container <\/p>\n<p>vessels, though the company continues to assess ethanol as an alternative fuel <\/p>\n<p>across its fleet.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Alberto Carbonell, President of the Port of Barcelona, said: \u201cThis <\/p>\n<p>operation demonstrates that the Port of Barcelona is ready to support the <\/p>\n<p>deployment of new low-carbon fuels at scale, as part of our Energy Transition <\/p>\n<p>Plan.
