{"id":528,"date":"2024-08-09T09:10:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T01:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/cosco-shipping-fortescue-collaborate-on-green-development\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T09:10:15","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T01:10:15","slug":"cosco-shipping-fortescue-collaborate-on-green-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/cosco-shipping-fortescue-collaborate-on-green-development\/","title":{"rendered":"COSCO SHIPPING, Fortescue collaborate on green development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p><strong>COSCO SHIPPING and Fortescue, a global green technology, energy and <\/p>\n<p>metal company, have inked a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in <\/p>\n<p>Shanghai.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1723165703120293-1.jpg\" alt=\"COSCO SHIPPING, Fortescue collaborate on green development\" title=\"COSCO SHIPPING, Fortescue collaborate on green development\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Under this MoC, both parties will leverage their respective technological <\/p>\n<p>and resource strengths to collectively develop a sustainable green fuel supply <\/p>\n<p>chain.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This initiative aims to advance the shipping industry\u2019s energy structure <\/p>\n<p>transformation, foster its eco-friendly growth, and contribute to the <\/p>\n<p>realisation of a globally interconnected green, low-carbon, and sustainable <\/p>\n<p>shipping ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As outlined in the MoC, Fortescue will use COSCO SHIPPING vessels or <\/p>\n<p>vessels owned by the two parties, powered by green ammonia, to ship iron ore and <\/p>\n<p>other mineral products with the aim of reducing the China-Australia Iron Ore <\/p>\n<p>Green Shipping Corridor\u2019s carbon emissions.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Fortescue stated: \u201cThe shipping industry plays a vital role in global trade <\/p>\n<p>however also contributes significantly to the world\u2019s carbon emissions.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership marks a significant step for the shipping industry in <\/p>\n<p>decarbonising and establishing a green fuel supply chain. It also paves the way <\/p>\n<p>for collaboration on a variety of decarbonisation solutions which we believe <\/p>\n<p>will be integral to delivering on our ambitious target of net zero Scope 3 <\/p>\n<p>emissions by 2040.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSustainability and decarbonisation have emerged as a new trend that <\/p>\n<p>propels the sustainable development of the shipping industry,\u201d COSCO SHIPPING <\/p>\n<p>reported.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCOSCO SHIPPING is dedicated to prioritising these green and low-carbon <\/p>\n<p>initiatives as one of its two development tracks. By enhancing collaboration <\/p>\n<p>with international partners, we aim to create a digitally advanced, intelligent, <\/p>\n<p>environmentally friendly, open, shared, and secure industrial ecosystem.
