{"id":549,"date":"2024-07-03T10:47:45","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T02:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/ogci-gcmd-to-progress-shipping-decarbonisation\/"},"modified":"2024-07-03T10:47:45","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T02:47:45","slug":"ogci-gcmd-to-progress-shipping-decarbonisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/ogci-gcmd-to-progress-shipping-decarbonisation\/","title":{"rendered":"OGCI, GCMD to progress shipping decarbonisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p><strong>The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and the Global Centre for <\/p>\n<p>Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) have signed a two-year coalition cooperation <\/p>\n<p>agreement to collaborate on a variety of decarbonisation options for the <\/p>\n<p>shipping sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1719974812731953-1.jpg\" alt=\"OGCI, GCMD to progress shipping decarbonisation\" title=\"OGCI, GCMD to progress shipping decarbonisation\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The collaboration will reportedly focus on energy efficiency to reduce <\/p>\n<p>emissions, future low-carbon fuels such as ammonia, methanol, and biofuel <\/p>\n<p>blends, and onboard carbon capture ways.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The partnership expands on an existing collaboration between OGCI and GCMD <\/p>\n<p>known as Project REMARCCABLE, which aims to demonstrate end-to-end onboard <\/p>\n<p>carbon capture at scale.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Phase 1 of this project is already completed, and the results will be <\/p>\n<p>released later this year, according to partners.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This collaboration reportedly supports GCMD\u2019s efforts by assisting in <\/p>\n<p>unlocking the carbon value chain downstream from onboard carbon capture and <\/p>\n<p>storage (OCCS), such as offloading, distribution, utilisation, and sequestration <\/p>\n<p>or utilisation of onboard collected CO2.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Julien Perez, Managing Director, OGCI, said: \u201cThis partnership is a great <\/p>\n<p>example of cross-industry collaboration to achieve emissions reductions as it <\/p>\n<p>combines knowledge and expertise from two critically important industries \u2013 <\/p>\n<p>energy and shipping \u2013 to unlock solutions to help decarbonise this hard-to-abate <\/p>\n<p>sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Professor Lynn Loo, CEO of GCMD, stated: \u201cOur partnership with OGCI will <\/p>\n<p>lend an important lens on shipping\u2019s role in the global fuel transition.
