International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has <\/p>\n

announced it is building a new international container terminal in Bauan, <\/p>\n

Batangas, Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ICTSI<\/p>\n

The new terminal is set to be the largest privately funded marine terminal <\/p>\n

investment in the country\u2019s history, and it will ultimately be the <\/p>\n

second-largest container facility after the Manila International Container <\/p>\n

Terminal (MICT) in the Port of Manila.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With design and engineering studies well underway, ICTSI will begin <\/p>\n

construction in the first quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With the first berth scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, the <\/p>\n

terminal will become a catalyst for economic growth across Southern Luzon, <\/p>\n

creating jobs and accelerating regional development.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The terminal is also expected to play a role in providing the marine <\/p>\n

handling needs required by the country\u2019s renewable energy transition strategy <\/p>\n

for Southern Luzon.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Construction will begin in 2025 with an estimated $800 million investment. <\/p>\n

Upon completion, the terminal will feature up to 900 metres of quay, with at <\/p>\n

least eight ship-to-shore (STS) gantry cranes and an estimated capacity of over <\/p>\n

2 million TEU per annum.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Critically, the terminal will have direct and unencumbered access to <\/p>\n

Southern Luzon\u2019s expressways. This was made possible by the completion of the <\/p>\n

Bauan-San Pascual-Batangas-STAR tollway diversion road.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Additional expressway projects from Cavite to Bauan by Metro Pacific <\/p>\n

Tollways Corporation and San Miguel Corporation are expected to further enhance <\/p>\n

the new port\u2019s connectivity making it the most efficiently connected maritime <\/p>\n

facility in Luzon by both capacity and route access.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Strategically located 120 kilometres south of Manila and 9 kilometres west <\/p>\n

of Batangas City, the Bauan facility will become the premier international <\/p>\n

gateway for shippers based in the CALABARZON region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, <\/p>\n

Rizal, and Quezon), and the most modern container terminal in the country, <\/p>\n

reported ICTSI.<\/p>\n

Christian R. Gonzalez, ICTSI Executive Vice President, said: \u201cThe new <\/p>\n

terminal represents a significant leap forward for Southern Luzon.<\/p>\n

industries located around the terminal, and solidify Southern Luzon\u2019s position <\/p>\n
