{"id":638,"date":"2024-03-21T10:16:45","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T02:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/ports-of-argentia-hamburg-pen-hydrogen-partnership\/"},"modified":"2024-03-21T10:16:45","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T02:16:45","slug":"ports-of-argentia-hamburg-pen-hydrogen-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/ports-of-argentia-hamburg-pen-hydrogen-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Ports of Argentia, Hamburg pen hydrogen partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p><strong>The Canadian Port of Argentia and the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) <\/p>\n<p>have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to collaborate on the export and import of <\/p>\n<p>green hydrogen from Canada to Germany.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1710987290829790-1.jpg\" alt=\"Ports of Argentia, Hamburg pen hydrogen partnership\" title=\"Ports of Argentia, Hamburg pen hydrogen partnership\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Scott Penney, CEO of the Port of Argentia, and Jens Meier from HPA signed <\/p>\n<p>the agreement while attending the Canada-Germany Hydrogen and Ammonia <\/p>\n<p>Producer-Offtaker Conference in Hamburg.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This LOI supports the Governments of Canada and Germany\u2019s mandate to <\/p>\n<p>establish an energy partnership and foster collaboration aimed at reducing <\/p>\n<p>emissions and transitioning to cleaner fuels and a greener economy while <\/p>\n<p>supporting the joint declaration of intent between Canada and Germany to <\/p>\n<p>establish a Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, the signatories will support the initiatives in their <\/p>\n<p>respective port areas to establish a robust supply chain of green hydrogen <\/p>\n<p>derivatives between the two ports.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Port of Argentia is a partner with Pattern Energy for the establishment <\/p>\n<p>of Argentia Renewables, a 300-megawatt (MW) wind energy to green hydrogen <\/p>\n<p>production project at Argentia. This LOI will form the framework for <\/p>\n<p>collaboration to facilitate the production, distribution and application of <\/p>\n<p>green hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis signing strategically aligns both the Ports of Argentia and Hamburg <\/p>\n<p>to facilitate the development of a hydrogen export\/import corridor as we <\/p>\n<p>collectively establish our ports as leaders in the global energy transition,\u201d <\/p>\n<p>stated Scott Penney.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis LOI confirms our commitment to the principals of the Alliance and in <\/p>\n<p>collaboration with Hamburg Port Authority, our ports will solidify our roles in <\/p>\n<p>providing energy transportation solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Jens Meier CEO of the HPA, added: \u201cThe Ports of Argentia and Hamburg concur <\/p>\n<p>that a maritime supply chain for green hydrogen and its derivates is urgently <\/p>\n<p>needed.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch novel supply chains need close cooperation and collaboration among <\/p>\n<p>exporting and importing ports.
