Singapore and Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding <\/p>\n

(MoU) to legally create the Singapore-Australia Green and Digital Shipping <\/p>\n

Corridor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Singapore,<\/p>\n

Singapore and Australia\u2019s Prime Ministers hailed the signing of the MoU at <\/p>\n

their 9th Annual Leaders\u2019 Meeting in Melbourne on 5 March 2024.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This comes nine months after Australia and Singapore announced plans to <\/p>\n

establish a Singapore-Australia green and digital shipping corridor by the end <\/p>\n

of 2025.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The MoU, signed by Chee Hong Tat, Singapore\u2019s Minister for Transport and <\/p>\n

Second Minister for Finance, and the Hon Catherine King MP, Australian Minister <\/p>\n

for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and Local Government, aims <\/p>\n

to expedite marine decarbonisation and digitalisation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Under the terms of the MoU, both countries will collaborate with interested <\/p>\n

parties to investigate opportunities for developing zero or near-zero GHG <\/p>\n

emission fuel supply chains for the maritime industry, which will include <\/p>\n

building necessary infrastructure, formalising standards, and developing and <\/p>\n

implementing training requirements.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The MoU will also look into ways to facilitate digital information exchange <\/p>\n

to allow for more efficient port clearance, port calls, and vessel flow between <\/p>\n

Singapore and Australia, as well as collaboration between the Singapore Maritime <\/p>\n

and Port Authority (MPA), Australian federal, state, and territory governments, <\/p>\n

and industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The partnership is planned to accelerate the development and implementation <\/p>\n

of zero or near-zero GHG emission technologies, as well as the adoption of <\/p>\n

digital solutions to improve the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of <\/p>\n

global marine supply chains.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In January, MPA partnered with Pyxis Energy, Pyxis Maritime, SP Mobility, <\/p>\n

Seatrium O&G, and Yinson Electric to test vessel charging concepts in the <\/p>\n
