{"id":707,"date":"2024-01-26T09:20:23","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T01:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/singapore-registry-of-ships-reaches-100-million-gross-tonnage\/"},"modified":"2024-01-26T09:20:23","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T01:20:23","slug":"singapore-registry-of-ships-reaches-100-million-gross-tonnage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/singapore-registry-of-ships-reaches-100-million-gross-tonnage\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore Registry of Ships reaches 100 million gross tonnage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p><strong>The Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) has reached the 100 million <\/p>\n<p>gross tonnage (GT) mark with the registration of AET\u2019s Very Large Crude Carrier <\/p>\n<p>(VLCC), Eagle Veracruz.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1706231652649595-1.jpg\" alt=\"Singapore Registry of Ships reaches 100 million gross tonnage\" title=\"Singapore Registry of Ships reaches 100 million gross tonnage\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Administered by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the SRS <\/p>\n<p>regulates Singapore-flagged ships and ensures that they follow appropriate <\/p>\n<p>International Maritime Organization (IMO) norms to improve international <\/p>\n<p>shipping safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The SRS, which manages around 4,000 vessels totalling over 100 million GT, <\/p>\n<p>is one of the world\u2019s largest ship registries, with one of the youngest quality <\/p>\n<p>fleets.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The latest-registered ship, the Eagle Veracruz, is a dual-fuelled liquefied <\/p>\n<p>natural gas (LNG) VLCC named after the Mexican state of Veracruz, which is home <\/p>\n<p>to one of Mexico\u2019s oldest ports. It is over 330 metres long and has a capacity <\/p>\n<p>of more than 156,000 GT.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>According to MPA, the vessel has various energy-efficient design elements <\/p>\n<p>and technologies that help to decrease fuel usage. These include an optimised <\/p>\n<p>hull shape, which reduces drag in water, an improved rudder design, which <\/p>\n<p>enhances stability and manoeuvrability, and a wake duct, which increases <\/p>\n<p>propeller efficiency.
