Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Bapco Energies B.S.C. (Bapco <\/p>\n

Energies) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for <\/p>\n

development of cross border carbon dioxide (CO2<\/sub>) transport and <\/p>\n

sequestration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MOL,<\/p>\n

Through joint studies, MOL and Bapco Energies will work on the construction <\/p>\n

of a carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) value chain consisting of CO2<\/sub> separation, collection, transport, injection, and storage.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The first study, according to MOL, would look at the estimated cost of CO2<\/sub> for using Bapco Energies\u2019 permanent CO2<\/sub> storage in the Kingdom of Bahrain, <\/p>\n

including the cost of receiving CO2<\/sub> at the CO2<\/sub> receiving port and the unit cost <\/p>\n

of liquified CO2<\/sub> travel by ship.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The second study would undertake collaborative research of potential <\/p>\n

markets in Asia Pacific locations, for example, as well as negotiate future <\/p>\n

corporate structure in good faith.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Takeshi Hashimoto, President and CEO of MOL, said: \u201cAs a developer and a <\/p>\n

provider of a variety of social infrastructure business in addition to <\/p>\n

traditional shipping, MOL is honoured and excited to have an opportunity to <\/p>\n

collaborate with Bapco Energies.<\/p>\n

value chain, also to become a bridge between the Kingdom of Bahrain and <\/p>\n

Mark Thomas, Group CEO of Bapco Energies, stated: \u201cWe have recently <\/p>\n

concluded a study confirming that the Kingdom of Bahrain\u2019s CO2<\/sub> storage capacity <\/p>\n

exceeds its needs to meet its net-zero target by 2060.<\/p>\n

cross-border CO2<\/sub> transportation and storage. This collaboration with MOL <\/p>\n

In November, MOL and Ta Tong Marine Co., Ltd. (TSSM) signed a contract with <\/p>\n

Damen Shipyards in The Netherlands to build a new service operating vessel <\/p>\n
