AD Ports Group (AD Ports) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC <\/p>\n

\u2013 Masdar, a UAE renewable energy company, have signed a Memorandum of <\/p>\n

Understanding (MoU) on the margins of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) <\/p>\n

in Dubai.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"AD<\/p>\n

According to the terms of the MoU, AD Ports Group and Masdar will <\/p>\n

collaborate to build a green hydrogen production centre within the Khalifa <\/p>\n

Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This is said to service both domestic and international markets, and is <\/p>\n

part of the UAE\u2019s National Hydrogen Strategy, which seeks to increase local <\/p>\n

hydrogen production to 1.4 million tonnes per year by 2031, and 15 million <\/p>\n

tonnes per year by 2050.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Masdar is aiming for an annual worldwide green hydrogen production capacity <\/p>\n

of up to 1 million tonnes by 2030, and has reportedly negotiated and implemented <\/p>\n

multiple global partnership agreements to achieve this objective.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD <\/p>\n

Ports Group, said: \u201cThe signing of this MoU with Masdar is a monumental step for <\/p>\n

AD Ports Group. It aligns perfectly with our green H2 valley strategy, <\/p>\n

amplifying our efforts to create a robust UAE H2 platform for developing green <\/p>\n

and blue hydrogen projects both domestically and globally.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, the MoU not only exemplifies our shared ambition with Masdar <\/p>\n

to establish Abu Dhabi as a vital international hub for the production and <\/p>\n

export of hydrogen and its derivatives but also echoes our wise leadership\u2019s <\/p>\n

vision to diversify the UAE\u2019s economy and bolster our global competitiveness, <\/p>\n

especially within markets that increasingly prioritise environmentally friendly <\/p>\n

and sustainable practices.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi CEO of Masdar, said: \u201cAs a global clean energy <\/p>\n

pioneer with nearly two decades of experience in renewables, Masdar adopts a <\/p>\n

smart \u2018first-mover\u2019 approach, entering markets at an early stage and building <\/p>\n

scalable platforms. This exciting collaboration with AD Ports Group exemplifies <\/p>\n

all of those principles. Green hydrogen has enormous potential to decarbonise <\/p>\n

hard-to-abate sectors and accelerate the journey to net zero.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven more than 80 per cent of global trade is transported by sea, <\/p>\n

partnerships like this are vital to ensure integrated green hydrogen value <\/p>\n

chains. Working with AD Ports Group, we\u2019ll explore measures to further <\/p>\n

decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors by encouraging the use of green hydrogen in <\/p>\n

port operations and as vessel fuels, while facilitating the import and export of <\/p>\n

hydrogen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, AD Ports in collaboration with KazMorTransFlot (KMTF), <\/p>\n

Kazakhstan\u2019s national shipping company, announced the launch of two vessels <\/p>\n
