{"id":749,"date":"2023-12-11T10:58:44","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T02:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/singapore-tianjin-pen-green-and-digital-corridor-agreement\/"},"modified":"2023-12-11T10:58:44","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T02:58:44","slug":"singapore-tianjin-pen-green-and-digital-corridor-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/singapore-tianjin-pen-green-and-digital-corridor-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore, Tianjin pen green and digital corridor agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px;line-height:30px\">\n<p><strong>The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Tianjin <\/p>\n<p>Municipal Transportation Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding <\/p>\n<p>(MoU) to establish the Singapore \u2013 Tianjin Green and Digital Shipping Corridor. <\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1702263393909370-1.jpg\" alt=\"Singapore, Tianjin pen green and digital corridor agreement\" title=\"Singapore, Tianjin pen green and digital corridor agreement\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:20px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive, MPA, and Wang Zhinan, Director General, <\/p>\n<p>Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission, signed the MoU on 6 December <\/p>\n<p>2023.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The agreement marks the first Green and Digital Shipping Corridor <\/p>\n<p>established between Singapore and China to support the decarbonisation, <\/p>\n<p>digitalisation, and growth of the maritime industry between Singapore and the <\/p>\n<p>Bohai Region.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Singapore \u2013 Tianjin Green and Digital Shipping Corridor will serve as a <\/p>\n<p>testbed for both countries to pilot and trial digital solutions, alternative <\/p>\n<p>fuels, and technologies, and facilitate talent development to support the <\/p>\n<p>decarbonisation and digitalisation of shipping, reported the MPA.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Singapore and Tianjin will work with the research community, the institutes <\/p>\n<p>of higher learning, and industry stakeholders such as shipping lines, port <\/p>\n<p>operators, shipbuilders, classification societies, and bunker suppliers to <\/p>\n<p>enable more efficient port clearance. This will be achieved through digital <\/p>\n<p>exchanges.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the organisations will work to encourage the offtake of zero or <\/p>\n<p>near-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission fuels and adoption of new fuel <\/p>\n<p>technologies.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In October 2023, the MPA issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) requesting <\/p>\n<p>financial institutions to submit solutions to expedite the adoption of electric <\/p>\n<p>harbour crafts.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>More recently, the port authority together with the Ports of Los Angeles <\/p>\n<p>and Long Beach announced a Partnership Strategy for a green and digital maritime <\/p>\n<p>corridor across the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore \u2013 Tianjin Green and Digital Shipping Corridor.
