SEA-KIT International has won funding from the Zero Emissions <\/p>\n

Vessels and Infrastructure (ZEVI) competition to design and manufacture a <\/p>\n

hydrogen-fuelled Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SEA-KIT<\/p>\n

As part of the initiative, the vessel manufacturer will collaborate with <\/p>\n

Marine2o to create land-based infrastructure to manufacture green hydrogen using <\/p>\n

renewable energy and water electrolysis.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Zero Emissions Ports Hydrogen Refilling Survey Vessel (ZEPHR) project <\/p>\n

aims to extend vessel operation for port operators and stakeholders by <\/p>\n

transferring all energy from readily available green electricity to 100 per cent <\/p>\n

green hydrogen production, compression, storage, and dispensing.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A consortium partner, the Port of London Authority (PLA), will host the <\/p>\n

hydrogen refuelling station on the River Thames in London and will later run the <\/p>\n

ZEPHR USV.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

SEA-KIT\u2019s remotely controlled USVs, many of which are active on offshore <\/p>\n

projects across the world, increase safety by having personnel based onshore in <\/p>\n

Remote Operations Centres.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the company, their reduced size results in substantial cost <\/p>\n

savings when compared to bigger, traditional survey vessels.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The ZEPHR USV platform\u2019s primary payload will be a high resolution <\/p>\n

multi-beam echo-sounder, with the possibility to deploy other sensors such as <\/p>\n

LiDAR, cameras, and environmental monitoring and sampling equipment.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The vessel will also be capable of launching and recovering flying drones <\/p>\n

for surveying, surveillance, and search and rescue missions. For redundancy, <\/p>\n

ZEPHR will employ two hydrogen fuel cell systems.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

To fulfil regulatory and compliance standards and receive permissions for <\/p>\n

continuous operations, the vessel\u2019s design will be assessed by Lloyd\u2019s Register <\/p>\n

and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

ZEPHR is set to be built at SEA-KIT\u2019s recently expanded production facility <\/p>\n

in Tollesbury, Essex in the UK.<\/p>\n

In July 2023, RightShip announced a collaboration with PLA to facilitate <\/p>\n
