OCI Global and X-Press Feeders have announced that OCI Hyfuels <\/p>\n

would deliver green methanol to XPress Feeders in the Port of Rotterdam <\/p>\n

beginning in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The landmark arrangement is the first green methanol contract with a feeder <\/p>\n

container carrier and marks a critical step in the decarbonisation of the <\/p>\n

transportation chain, as the feeder industry is critical in supporting the final <\/p>\n

carrier.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

X-Press Feeders will be Europe\u2019s first common feeder operator with <\/p>\n

methanol-powered vessels on the sea.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The collaboration will result in the development of an end-to-end solution <\/p>\n

for global shipping businesses in European ports.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

OCI announced earlier this year a collaboration with Unibarge to modify the <\/p>\n

first methanol-powered bunker barge, which will be deployed in the Port of <\/p>\n

Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

OCI will collaborate with Unibarge to fuel the feeder ships of XPress <\/p>\n

Feeders, ensuring the decarbonisation of yet another link in the system.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The announcement comes in the same month the International Maritime <\/p>\n

Organization (IMO) announced new global decarbonisation targets for the maritime industry and its <\/p>\n

revised strategy for the industry to reach net zero \u2018by or around 2050\u2019.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The collaboration is a substantial commercial-scale green methanol <\/p>\n

transaction that validates green methanol as the top alternative for low carbon <\/p>\n

and renewable maritime fuel accessible at scale today, and it marks a concrete <\/p>\n

step towards both companies\u2019 decarbonisation journeys.<\/p>\n

This is OCI HyFuels\u2019 second green methanol sale in the marine sector in <\/p>\n

less than a month, following our partnership with Maersk to fuel the world\u2019s <\/p>\n

first green methanol-powered container vessel, demonstrating the sector\u2019s rapid <\/p>\n

growth and OCI HyFuels\u2019 ability to support the growing demand for green methanol <\/p>\n

from the marine sector, beginning in Rotterdam and expanding to several other <\/p>\n

ports around the world.<\/p>\n
