Moller \u2013 Maersk (Maersk) has placed an order for six mid-sized <\/p>\n<p>containerships, each with dual-fuel engines that can run on green <\/p>\n<p>methanol.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1687918421727058-3.png\" alt=\"Maersk adds to green methanol vessels fleet\" title=\"Maersk adds to green methanol vessels fleet\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:15px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group will construct six 9,000 TEU boats for <\/p>\n<p>delivery between 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This order comes two weeks after OCI Global (Euronext: OCI) announced it is <\/p>\n<p>fuelling the first ever green methanol-powered containership in partnership with <\/p>\n<p>Maersk.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Rabab Boulos, Chief Infrastructure Officer at Maersk, said: \u201cWith this <\/p>\n<p>order, we take another step in the green transformation of our fleet and towards <\/p>\n<p>our target of becoming net-zero in 2040.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs with all our other vessel orders for the last two years, these ships <\/p>\n<p>will be able to run on green methanol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Following a pledge to solely purchase newbuild boats that can sail on green <\/p>\n<p>fuels, Maersk reportedly bought the world\u2019s first methanol-enabled container <\/p>\n<p>carrier in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>After only two years, the worldwide orderbook includes more than 100 <\/p>\n<p>methanol-capable vessels.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Maersk currently has 25 methanol-capable boats on order after purchasing <\/p>\n<p>six more vessels.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Boulos explained: \u201cFor these six container vessels, we have chosen a design <\/p>\n<p>and vessel size which make them very flexible from a deployment point of <\/p>\n<p>view.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will allow these vessels to fill many functions in both our current <\/p>\n<p>and our future network, thereby offering the flexibility our customers demand. <\/p>\n<p>Once phased in, they will replace existing capacity in our fleet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The first methanol-enabled tanker, a 2,100 TEU feeder vessel, is scheduled <\/p>\n<p>to be delivered to Maersk later this summer.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Maersk just announced plans to convert an existing ship into a dual-fuel <\/p>\n<p>methanol-powered vessel, allowing it to sail on green methanol.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.P.
