DP World has cut direct carbon emissions from its global operations <\/p>\n

by 5 per cent in 2022, according to its latest Environmental Social and <\/p>\n

Governance (ESG) report, reflecting progress towards its 2040 carbon neutral <\/p>\n

target.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ESG report, published on 26 May, has been developed in accordance with <\/p>\n

the latest Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Over the course of 2022, DP World said it has tightened its ESG Governance <\/p>\n

and Risk Management framework, and it has launched an Executive Sustainability <\/p>\n

Council to provide strategic guidance on the Group\u2019s sustainability strategy and <\/p>\n

ESG metrics.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The company has also integrated ESG as a risk into its corporate enterprise <\/p>\n

risk register in 2022, and it has published its first stand-alone ESG Report c <\/p>\n

2021.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Maha AlQattan, Group Chief People and Sustainability Officer, DP <\/p>\n

World,<\/strong> said: \u201cAt DP World, we believe in enabling resilience, <\/p>\n

and building a smart and sustainable future that generates long-term societal <\/p>\n

impact.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2022 we saw continued global headwinds but that challenged us to push <\/p>\n

new frontiers of collaboration. I\u2019m proud that we have cut our direct carbon <\/p>\n

emissions by 5 per cent, and significantly increased our community <\/p>\n

contributions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognise our impact and are continuing to look at how we use our <\/p>\n

resources responsibly, on issues from education to WASH infrastructure, in line <\/p>\n

with our clear roadmap for the future,\u201d AlQattan added.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

DP World stated that decarbonisation is a core focus for the company and <\/p>\n

the business has continued to work towards its targets of becoming carbon <\/p>\n

neutral by 2040 and net zero carbon by 2050.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In November at COP 27, Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, <\/p>\n

announced that DP World had joined the Green Shipping Challenge and committed to <\/p>\n

investing up to $500 million to cut carbon dioxide emissions by nearly <\/p>\n

700,000 tonnes over the next five years.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Group has also entered a strategic partnership with the Maersk McKinney <\/p>\n

Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping and joined the UN Global Compact\u2019s Think <\/p>\n

Lab on Just Transition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This report comes less than three weeks after DP World announced the <\/p>\n

installation of sunlight-converting photovoltaic panels at its UK London Gateway <\/p>\n

hub.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

More recently, the company announced it will distribute up to \u00a315 million <\/p>\n
