{"id":986,"date":"2023-03-22T16:33:45","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T08:33:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/samskip-to-gain-two-zero-emission-container-vessels\/"},"modified":"2023-03-22T16:33:45","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T08:33:45","slug":"samskip-to-gain-two-zero-emission-container-vessels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/samskip-to-gain-two-zero-emission-container-vessels\/","title":{"rendered":"Samskip to gain two zero emission container vessels"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"max-width:900px; margin:0 auto; background-color:rgb(246,246,246); padding:20px; line-height:25px; text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong>Global logistics solution provider, Samskip, has contracted two <\/p>\n<p>hydrogen fuel powered vessels to provide service on its west European routes. <\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hajomech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1679473796845724-1.jpg\" alt=\"Samskip to gain two zero emission container vessels.jpg\" title=\"Samskip to gain two zero emission container vessels\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; padding:15px 0px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Samskip signed a contract for the ships with Indian shipbuilding company, <\/p>\n<p>Cochin Shipyard ltd.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>These vessels will be among the first zero emission short sea container <\/p>\n<p>vessels in the world using green hydrogen for fuel, once commissioned.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Each vessel is expected to achieve around 25,000 tonnes of CO2 reduction <\/p>\n<p>per year in zero emission mode.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>They will achieve zero emission operations in ports by using green shore <\/p>\n<p>power at the port of call, according to Samskip.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>CEO of Samskip Group, Kari-Pekka Laaksonen, said: \u201cThis endeavour is <\/p>\n<p>another of Samskip\u2019s initiatives that is an important step towards reaching our <\/p>\n<p>sustainability targets outlined in our latest sustainability report.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt reinforces our commitment to the sustainability science based target <\/p>\n<p>initiative and will support our goal of reaching net zero by 2040,\u201d added <\/p>\n<p>Laaksonen.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Similarly, earlier this year in February, HMM announced that it secured <\/p>\n<p>contracts for nine 9,000 TEU containerships powered by methanol dual-fuel <\/p>\n<p>engines, with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) and HJ Shipbuilding and <\/p>\n<p>Construction (HJSC).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Global logistics solution provider, Samskip, has contracted two hydrogen fuel powered vessels to provide service on its west European routes.
