Singapore, India launch green and digital shipping corridor
Singapore and India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore–India Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).
Both countries’ Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of the agreement during Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s official visit to New Delhi on 4 September 2025.
Under the MoU, both nations will collaborate with industry partners to develop infrastructure and technologies that enable the maritime sector’s transition to zero or near-zero GHG emission fuels.
The agreement also includes provisions for digital information exchange and joint research into emerging green maritime technologies and solutions.
This partnership will strengthen regional efforts in digitalisation and decarbonisation.
With India’s renewable energy capacity and industrial base supporting the production and export of alternative marine fuels, and Singapore’s role as a major global hub port with extensive bunkering operations and a growing maritime innovation ecosystem, the collaboration leverages the complementary strengths of both countries.
In June, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGAMPA) agreed on an Enhanced Maritime Partnership to further strengthen maritime cooperation between Singapore and France.
