The company combined operational measures to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions with the purchase of carbon credits to offset 100 per cent of remaining emissions.

Juliana Soares, Brazil’s Sustainability Coordinator, said: “This certification recognises SAAM’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental accountability. Reaching this milestone again demonstrates the consistent alignment of our company’s practices with the highest environmental and climate standards.”

SAAM Towage continues to advance its Sustainability Strategy, focusing on energy efficiency, environmental management, and reducing GHG emissions by 2030.

Soares added: “This achievement is possible thanks to the company’s commitment and the dedication of all our employees. Our goal is to keep evolving, find new ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and inspire other companies to move in the same direction.”

SAAM Towage Brazil operates in 18 ports across the country with a fleet of more than 67 tugs and approximately 700 employees.

In October, SAAM announced the signing of an agreement to purchase 30 per cent of Intertug’s companies operating in Colombia and Mexico, giving it 100 per cent ownership.
